Session 1 Reflection
How has the last 18 months in the Concordia Graduate Program impacted your work as an educator?
How have you grown personally and professionally?

My involvement in the program has been really good for me as a professional. My principal has asked me to take more of a leadership role in several areas of the school and the district and refers to me as one of his "teacher leaders" which I find a huge compliment. I was involved in the district's strategic planning committee and the technology action planning committee during the last school year. This year, I am the chair of the district's Curriculum Council and am a member of our district Literacy Council and the KDAC (Kewaunee District Advisory Council). The skills and abilities in leadership I have attained in the program have helped me gain confidence to become involved in these activities and accept and embrace a greater leadership role in the district. Personally, the cohort has been a rock for me through some very tough times. It was a group that I could count on to be consistently kind, caring and a valuable source of information that I have come to consider as part of my family!:)

What are 3 major criticisms from the Concordia Graduate Program?
1. Communication with Concordia is lacking
2. You get different answers about things depending upon who you ask
3. Syllabi and course materials dictated by Concordia do not always reflect information that we need in a real world setting; theory is a wonderful background but the real world applications and examples will give us more of a toolbox to draw from to help in future situations

What do you hope to get from this class?
I am excited about the project-based focus. My ideal vision for this class would be to walk away with more tools to use as an administrator. I know that I won't necessarily be 100% comfortable starting my first administrative job, but I'd like to walk in without being completely terrified...I'd rather be excited.
